12 Best Websites For Front-End Inspiration

Having troubles generating front-end ideas, no problem.

People often ask me what the secret to my design is, and I always reply them, “Try looking at 500 designs a day”. I probably expose myself to more than that, but it’s easy especially with endless scrolling websites.

1. Product Hunt: This is where I go to mingle with other makers. Everyday new products are released on product hunts where their creators can get feedback and be up-voted.
2. Dribbble: After Product Hunt, this is my best place to get inspiration. It’s like the Instagram for designs. Most designs published on dribble are well prepared and packaged. Always looking glossy and the dribbble interface makes it easy to digest content. With the bucket feature, I am able to categories shots into various concerns like landing pages, hero sections, interactions etc.
3. Pinterest: I consider pinterest the Google for design inspiration. My only challenge with it the rowdiness of the masonry layout and the app seems to be glitchy. It is basically a platform that curates images from across different platforms into one source. On of the coolest features I love about it, is the image search that enables you find images similar to the one you are searching and it is strangely accurate. I use it get designs that have similar properties with the one I am interested in.
4. Up Labs: This is a great website dedicated mostly to web design assets both for free and some offered for a price. It a great site to visit from time to time especially because you often find freebies or a design resource that will make your work easier.
5. Awwwards: If you are tired of the usually websites you see everyday and want to build something out of the ordinary, then awwwards.com is for you. In my opinion it’s the best place to find interaction references.
6. Codepen: If you love tinkering with code, the this is for you. There are a lots of snippets hosted on this site which can help you boost any section of your work. Also do well to share some pens too. People contribute code daily to the website and you would be surprised what people do with javascript. I have seen things like audio visualizers, 3D environments, particles systems, fluid animations and many more all on codepen.
7. Codesandbox: This site is still like magic to me. Basically you can spin up entire projects in seconds in sort of a container on the web and execute commands easily. It allows for collaborate or peer programming. It also has a director where people contribute code openly. Also it is used by other open source projects as a place to host demo code. You can quickly prototype your ideas on codesandbox.
8. Codedrops by Tympanus: This is where you go to learn weird front-end stuffs that are super cool. There tutorials are easy to follow along and digest. They also have a bundle of code samples you can learn from.
9. Land Book: I stumbled on this site somehow and I must say it is an awesome well curated list of web pages with great design. If you need to make a great landing page then this is your go-to website.
10. Behance: This is like dribbble but for design projects. It’s a place for classy designs. If you want to get inspiration regarding the entirety of a project, then Behance is the place to be. Things like style guides, app flow diagrams, design process documents are easily fund in Behance. Another reason I love the site is access to free resources from members of it’s community.
11. Stackoverflow: This site has being a blessing to all developers, whether front or back-end. If you have ever written front-end logic, then you must have needed some help from the internet. Stackoverflow is that place where you get all your questions answered even without asking. Any problem you have, chances are that someone already has asked and has been answered.
12. Bigfish.works: This is my own personal project during the heat of COVID-19. It was created and deployed under a week to serve as a vector resource directory for startups working on COVID-19 solutions. While I had stopped contributing to the site, It has gathered over 800 downloads across the world. For me it’s a prototype for something bigger in the works. Stay tuned.
